The LB-100 bass was reintroduced in 2013 with G&L’s own LB-100 Alnico V split-coil humbucker replacing the Gotoh version of those built in the 1990s. The Matador, exclusive offered through G&L’s Custom Shop, even has two of them. These Alnico pickups are still based on the principle Leo Fender laid out when he filed for what became US Pat. 2,976,755 on January 6, 1959, where the split-coil design adds noise cancelling capabilities.
