G&L tech resources: Nuts & string retainers

The Wilkinson roller nut was a short lived option on all guitar models. It appears on the September 1, 1987 price list as a “metal nut” on the SC-3, is offered as an option on all guitars in the January 1, 1988 price list, but is no longer present on the June 15, 1988 price list. It is a glued-in 1⅝” wide nut, made of a ³⁄₁₆” x ³⁄₁₆” bar with V-shaped notches. Each slot has a small brass roller reducing the friction of the string running through it when a vibrato is used. The only guitar in the collection with this unique nut is this SC-3 (2nd style) w/ebony fingerboard from 1987.
