G&L tech resources: Pickups

Whereas the original Legacy Bass/LB-100 from the 1990s had an Alnico V split-coil pickup sourced by Gotoh, upon reintroduction in 2013, the LB-100 now has G&L’s own LB-100 Alnico V split-coil humbucker. The Custom Shop Matador Bass even has two of them. These Alnico pickups are still based on the principle Leo Fender laid out when he filed for what became US Pat. 2,976,755 on January 6, 1959, where the split-coil design adds noise cancelling capabilities.
