G&L tech resources: Tuning machines

Starting around 1992, Sperzel Enclosed Housing Solid Pro closed tuning machines were used by G&L as an alternative to the Schaller closed tuning machines. Also these use a location pin for stable positioning on the headstock. But the main differentiator is that they do not implement US Pat. 4,046,050, i.e. they have a regular post with string hole instead of being tapered with a slot. Not surprisingly, they are available in Gold Satin, as on Commemorative #152, and Chrome Satin, as on the 25th Anniversary model. I have not seen a Black Satin version and do not know if these ever were used on G&L guitars.
